DPT Student participates in medical outreach in Honduras!

GLOBAL OUTREACH

Our goal is to be a greater partner in the way physical therapy is practiced internationally through serving, learning and giving.  To achieve this goal, we are striving to establish relationships and develop creative practice models through cooperative initiatives with clinics and practitioners that will:

  • Enable and promote the use of evidence in practice
  • Provide opportunities for Duke DPT interns to apply evidence-based practice techniques during their clinical experiences
  • Conduct interprofessional clinical research
  • Develop scholarships for Duke DPT interns with clinical internship sites
  • Offer continuing education for clinicians at Duke DPT clinical internship sites.

Objectives include:

  • Embracing the culture and providing volunteer assistance and engage in health oriented service learning.
  • Providing to those in need and enabling participants to gain a better understanding about barriers faced by other health care systems.
  • Establishing the participant’s role in the community as health care providers upon return to the United States.
