Duke DPT is proud to announce that Katie Lyn Beasley and Rachel Groff (Class of 2011) have been slated to the APTA’s National Student Assembly Board of Directors and Nominating Committee.  Katie Lyn and Rachel are candidates for the positions of Secretary and Nominating Committee respectively.  Within the APTA, the National Student Assembly serves as the governing body for all PT and PTA students. Numerous Duke students have served on the Assembly in the past, and we hope that Katie Lyn and Rachel will have the opportunity to continue the legacy. Duke DPT wishes both of them the best of luck on this exciting professional endeavor.
 

Congratulations Dr. COOK! - The AAOS Public Relations Oversight Group (PROG) has chosen Dr Cook's review study, The Impact of Glycemic Control and Diabetes Mellitus on Perioperative Outcomes after Total Joint Arthroplastyfor a consumer press release from the July 2009 edition of JBJS. Sarah Hayden is a Clinical Research Associate and is responsible for research management within the DPT Division. She assists faculty with grant proposal development and submission. In addition she provides direction and oversight of research compliance including Institutional Review Board protocol development and reporting as well as implementation of Site Based Research initiatives.
 
Sarah is the Project Manager of a multi-site phase III clinical trial – Locomotor Experience Applied Post-Stroke (LEAPS). The LEAPS trial examines the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions specifically designed to improve walking in the first year after stroke.
