Duke DPT is proud to announce that Katie Lyn Beasley and Rachel Groff (Class of 2011) have been slated to the APTA’s National Student Assembly Board of Directors and Nominating Committee.  Katie Lyn and Rachel are candidates for the positions of Secretary and Nominating Committee respectively.  Within the APTA, the National Student Assembly serves as the governing body for all PT and PTA students. Numerous Duke students have served on the Assembly in the past, and we hope that Katie Lyn and Rachel will have the opportunity to continue the legacy. Duke DPT wishes both of them the best of luck on this exciting professional endeavor.
 

Congratulations Dr. COOK! - The AAOS Public Relations Oversight Group (PROG) has chosen Dr Cook's review study, The Impact of Glycemic Control and Diabetes Mellitus on Perioperative Outcomes after Total Joint Arthroplastyfor a consumer press release from the July 2009 edition of JBJS. Practice

Dr. Odom serves as Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) and directs the clinical internship program for the DPT Division.  She shares responsibilities for clinical site recruitment, clinical instructor development and delivery of the DPT internship program with Dr. Kyle Covington, PT, NCS.  Dr. Odom teaches two didactic courses: Educational Theory and Practice, and Clinical Pharmacology and Nutrition.  She has held several leadership positions in professional associations at local, state, regional and national levels.  Currently, she serves as President of the Carolina Clinical Education Consortium (NC & SC).  Dr. Odom is credentialed as a Trainer by the American Physical Therapy Association for the Basic and Advanced Clinical Instructor Education and Credentialing Programs.
