Duke DPT is proud to announce that Katie Lyn Beasley and Rachel Groff (Class of 2011) have been slated to the APTA’s National Student Assembly Board of Directors and Nominating Committee.  Katie Lyn and Rachel are candidates for the positions of Secretary and Nominating Committee respectively.  Within the APTA, the National Student Assembly serves as the governing body for all PT and PTA students. Numerous Duke students have served on the Assembly in the past, and we hope that Katie Lyn and Rachel will have the opportunity to continue the legacy. Duke DPT wishes both of them the best of luck on this exciting professional endeavor.

Education

CLINICAL EDUCATION

The Clinical Education program offers collaborative learning experiences that engage students, clinical instructors, patients, interdisciplinary practitioners, administrators and academic faculty.  Clinical internship sites are specifically selected and approved by the Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education when they are determined to meet the needs of the DPT Division.  Clinical learning experiences are designed to support didactic coursework and provide opportunities for development of skills and abilities that broadly represent the physical therapy profession.

The Duke DPT program offers diverse clinical education experiences that, in addition to patient care, permit students to design and gain experience in administration, education, research and, community service.  We believe that such opportunities assure that students’ will develop skills and abilities that preserve patient safety, provide best practice care and, promote fiscal responsibility.
